Terms and definitions

The Estimate or Appraisal uses several terms to describe specific repair or replace related items.

Term

Definition

Original Equipment Manufacturer (Nw)

a part supplied by the original equipment manufacturer.

Example: Ford or Dodge.

Aftermarket (AM)

Aftermarket means any part other than OEM.

Example: Jobber or after -market parts.

Like Kind (LK)

Parts from a donor vehicle supplied by an auto recycler (auto wrecker).

Sublet

A dollar amount for a service not normally performed by the repair facility.
Examples:
  • a wheel alignment, which is done at a mechanical facility
  • interior cleaning
  • custom graphics
  • lock recoding
Note: Prices for each of these would be in the sublet column of the Estimate or Appraisal.

Repair Hours (RP)

The amount of time it takes to repair a panel or part on a vehicle.

Remove/Replace (RR) Hours

The amount of time it takes to remove the old part and replace it.
