Refinish blend

Definition of a refinish blend.

Definition

A refinish blend is the application of colour to a portion of a vehicle panel that is adjacent to a damaged vehicle panel, when the damaged vehicle panel does not have enough undamaged surface area to facilitate a colour match.

An additional blend into the next adjacent panel is considered when the adjacent panel is less than 12 inches wide. Refinish blends are allowed on an exception basis to ensure accurate colour matching.

Example: If a truck cab corner measures 8 inches wide, an additional blend into the next adjoining panel may be warranted.

Agreement of a difficult colour match

If the ICBC estimator and the repair facility manager are unable to agree on what is considered a difficult colour match, the Manager Estimating Services at the local servicing ICBC claims office makes the final decision.
