Body repair material allowances

List of body repair materials included in the standard hourly allowance and miscellaneous parts that are charged as individual parts.

Body repair material allowance commonly covers the cost of materials used during repairs, however, in certain instances, additional materials may be required. Materials can fall into two allowance categories
  • standard material allowances, and
  • additional material allowances.

Standard materials allowances

Standard materials are categorized as materials commonly used during the repair process, such as
  • sandpaper
  • sealers and caulking
  • fillers, and
  • gloves.
The material allowance auto calculates within the estimate and is displayed in the cost breakdown page of the estimate.

The standard material allowance includes, but is not limited to, the following materials and items. These items cannot be charged individually unless vehicle specific

Includes all hardware that is not vehicle specified, such as

  • screws
  • nuts and bolts
  • two-sided tape
  • clips
  • rivets
  • retainers
  • clamps, and
  • adhesives.

Welding materials

Standard electrical components

  • Wiring
  • connectors, and
  • fuses.

Body shims

Cleaners

Additional materials allowance

Additional materials are materials that are not included in the standard material allowance, but are required to complete a repair or replace operation and are specified within an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) repair procedure. These items are charged individually as parts, as long as they meet the specified conditions.

Equivalent aftermarket products can be used and billed for in place of OEM recommended or required products when the aftermarket option meets applicable standards.

Clips

  • Must be one way, one time, not reusable, and
  • accompanied by an invoice listing the part number.

Fuses

Special purpose type fuses are paid as a part only when accompanied by an invoice with a part number.

Note: Normal push-in type fuses are excluded.
Adhesives Vehicle specific, documented with an OEM repair procedure and part number.
