Definition
An allowance is a reduction to the amount ICBC would normally pay to repair, replace or paint the part(s), due to pre-existing or unrelated damage on the vehicle.
Allowance requirements
The estimator must
- discuss the allowance with the vehicle owner or their representative, and
- list it on the Estimate or Appraisal.
Allowance and collision repair program participants
A collision repair program participant that assesses the vehicle and prepares the estimate must
- ensure that the vehicle damage being estimated was incurred as a result of the accident being claimed
- identify all pre-existing or unrelated damage, and
- document all pre-existing or unrelated damage in the "Remarks" section of the Estimate or Appraisal.
