Removal of parts for refinishing

Criteria to qualify

When determining whether a vehicle qualifies for parts removal and installation (RE & I) for refinishing, the estimator or repair facility should consider the following:

• Is it necessary to remove the parts to assist refinishing? What could be a viable alternative to removing the parts?
• Is the part specifically excluded in the parts RE & I for refinishing agreement?
• Does the overall condition of the vehicle warrant removal of parts for refinishing? If the vehicle is in poor condition or has pre-existing damage, then it may not be warranted.
• Has the part been previously masked? Parts that have been previously masked do not qualify for removal.
