The procedures for handling water and flood damaged motor vehicle claims must be consistent with
- all federal and provincial laws, and
- the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) Guidelines.
Rationale
Water damage escalates with time making rapid intervention important.
Water and flood damage claims present challenges with repairs due to the potential for recurring issues, particularly in the case of contaminated fluid or flood damage. These challenges include
- electrical problems
- odour
- corrosion, and/or
- health and safety concerns.
